A new kind of leader
As our nation struggles through the worst recession since the Great Depression, in Washington, we are leading the way forward to economic recovery. Over the last two years, I have voted for legislation that will put nearly 100,000 people back to work across the state. I voted to balance the state budget by cutting spending and refocusing our state government on its core priorities. In these tough times, our state government needs to be more efficient and make maximum use of our tax dollars.
Keeping my promises
When I asked for your vote in the last election, I promised that I would not support tax increases that would hurt our middle class families and delay our economic recovery. I kept my word. I fought efforts to raise our state sales tax and I voted against over a dozen tax and fee increases that were unnecessary.
Focusing on the future
We cannot allow our present challenges to deter us from building a better future for our state. That is why I have supported a strong education system from preschool to college for every person in our state. I have been a leader on fighting traffic and congestion, and investing in our community's infrastructure. And, I have fought to ensure that our economy is stronger and more sustainable as we begin the hard work of recovery.
It is truly an honor and privilege to represent you in the State Legislature. I am committed to working hard on the issues that matter to our community and being your voice in Olympia.
